On December 2nd-3rd, 2008, Numismatica Genevensis held its auction at Geneva. Even before it started, discussion was going on. Special attention was paid to a sestertius of Hadrian featuring Pax Augusti on its reverse, considered to be the most beautiful Roman coin, though estimated at an impressive 400,000 Swiss francs. A lot of collectors doubted whether any buyer would be willing to pay such a fantastic price. In the end, the coin sold at 2 million CHF! That again proved how stable the coin market is at present – regardless of any financial crises.
